About This Activity
One fun fall activity to do with kids this weekend is an apple tasting! Talk about the different flavours, shapes, colours, textures, smells and crunch of each fruit.
Materials Needed
Different kinds of apple (check out our blog for a link to all the free fruit trees in Edmonton)
Free graphic for describing word ideas
Instructions
Use all of your 5 senses when you do this activity!
Step 1
Look at the fruit - talk about what you see, smell, feel and taste
Step 2
Take a big bite of the fruit - talk about what you smell, feel (on your hands, in your mouth), taste and hear
Step 3
Cut the fruit - talk about what you see, smell, feel
Step 4
Take a small nibble of one of the slices - talk about what you smell, feel (on your hands, in your mouth), taste, and hear
Step 5
See if you can use different words to describe the fruit! Try to think of as many different words as you can! For example, "sour" can also be: tangy, tart, acidic, vinegary, and stinging.
